Your privacy matters. This policy explains how I collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use this website or enquire about my services.

Who I am

I am Cheryl Davies, trading as Olive Branch Psychotherapy & Wellbeing Limited (Company No. 17338166), a BACP registered psychotherapist based in Wigan, Greater Manchester.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am the data controller for personal information collected through this website and in connection with my therapy services.

What information I collect

When you use the contact form or enquire about an appointment, I may collect your name, email address, phone number, and any details you choose to share about your reason for getting in touch.

If you book an appointment, I will collect the information needed to provide therapy services, which may include sensitive personal data relating to your health and wellbeing. This is collected only with your explicit consent.

This website does not currently use cookies for tracking or advertising purposes. If analytics are enabled, only anonymised, aggregated data is collected.

Why I use your information

To respond to your enquiry or booking request.

To provide and manage your therapy sessions.

To fulfil my legal and professional obligations as a BACP registered therapist, including safeguarding duties.

I will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Enquiry and contact data: legitimate interests (responding to your request).

Therapy and health data: explicit consent, and where necessary, vital interests or legal obligation (e.g. safeguarding).

I process your data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

How long I keep your data

Enquiry data (contact form submissions) is kept for up to 12 months, or until the matter is resolved.

Therapy records are retained for a minimum of 7 years after the end of therapy, in line with BACP guidance and professional indemnity insurance requirements.

After the retention period, data is securely deleted or destroyed.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: access the personal data I hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request erasure of your data (subject to legal and professional obligations); object to or restrict processing; and data portability.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact me directly by phone or via the contact form. I will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how I handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

How I keep your data secure

I take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.

Therapy notes and sensitive records are stored securely and are not accessible to third parties except where required by law or professional duty.

Changes to this policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of this website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
