Couples & relational therapy
Coming together - when you're both ready.
Joint sessions for couples and parents with young adults (18+), grounded in individual self-awareness first.
Why individual work comes first.
Relational difficulties rarely belong to just one person. Before two people can truly hear each other, each needs to understand themselves; their patterns, their triggers, the stories they carry. That is why I ask both individuals to complete around five individual sessions before we come together in a joint space. This is not a barrier; it is the foundation that makes the joint work meaningful.
The power of self-awareness
How knowing yourself changes everything.
Self-awareness is not a luxury, it is the single most transformative thing you can bring to any relationship. When you understand why you react the way you do, what you truly need, and where your patterns come from, you stop projecting those unresolved feelings onto the people closest to you. You become less reactive and more responsive. You listen differently. You take up space without taking over. The remarkable thing is that your own growth ripples outward. When one person in a relationship does the inner work, the dynamic between them shifts; even before the other person has done anything at all. Self-awareness is a gift you give yourself that others receive too.
You respond rather than react
Understanding your triggers means you can pause before patterns take hold, choosing how you engage rather than being driven by old wounds.
You communicate with greater clarity
When you know what you actually feel and need, you can express it — rather than hoping the other person will somehow guess, or withdrawing when they don't.
You hold your own boundaries
Boundaries are not walls — they are honest expressions of what you need to feel safe. Self-awareness helps you identify and communicate them without guilt.
You bring less baggage into the room
Old hurts from past relationships, family dynamics, or earlier experiences can colour how we see the present. Individual work helps you separate then from now.
Your growth benefits those around you
Even if the other person never attends a session, your shift in how you show up changes the relationship. Calm is contagious. So is curiosity. So is compassion.
How it works
The path to joint sessions.
Individual sessions - both of you
Each person works individually with me for approximately five sessions. This is a confidential space to explore your own thoughts, feelings, and patterns, without the other person present.
Building self-awareness
Through our individual work, you develop a clearer sense of yourself; what you bring to the relationship, what you find difficult, and what you genuinely need.
Coming together
When both individuals feel ready, and we will discuss this together, we move into joint sessions. You arrive with greater self-knowledge, which makes the shared space far more productive.
Joint sessions
Joint sessions are 60 minutes and provide a safe, facilitated space to talk, listen, and work through what matters most; whether that is communication, conflict, trust, or simply reconnecting.

About joint sessions
Joint sessions are considered once both individuals have completed approximately five individual sessions and feel ready to come together. This is always a collaborative decision - there is no pressure or fixed timeline.
